The fact that the Alphorn only produces notes in the harmonic series, in conjunction with the timbral quality of the Thai Gongs contributes to the meditative nature of this piece. I like to think this direction was taken because we were all feeling so worn out by that afternoon and we just needed something peaceful and sedate. Others might disagree.
