1984: Essentially played as on "Does Humor Belong in Music?"
The Clovers recorded The Rotten Cocksuckers' Ball in 1973. At that time, the group consisted of founding member Harold Lucas plus three members who joined in the 1960s: Tippie Hubbard, Toy Walton, and John Bowie.
If you like your music very spiced and explicit, check out the "X-rated" various artists CD "Ranchy Rock & Roll" (1995, Live Gold LG 7022), that contains the song "The Rotten Cock Suckers Ball" (a 01:18 track) by The Clovers (extremely successful in the early- and mid-50s, the Clovers placed 21 tunes on the R&B charts, 19 of them in the top 10).
If you look at the song titles, you get a very clear idea what it is all about; most of it is R&B or doo-wop, there's some Rock & Roll and even some country. "Hot Nuts" (Blackie Kidd), "Fuck Me Forever" (Connie Lingus), "Sit On My face" (The Echo's), "It's So Hard To Say I Love You, When Your Sitting On My Face" (Marty & the Muff-Tones), "Fuck Off" (The Dildos), "Did He Eat Your Titty" (The Perversions), "Bite It" (Screamin' Jay Hawkins), "The Constipation Blues" (Screamin' Jay Hawkins), "Baby Let Me Bang Your Box" (The Bangers), etc., etc. "Get Ready (French Style)" is a randy reggae reading of Rare Earth's hit.
"If It Ain't A Hit, I'll Eat My... Baby" (1996, ZuZazz Z-2009— an obscure bootleg album that originally came out in the '80s as a vinyl-only release), subtitled "the dirtiest of them dirty blues", is another various artists CD that also contains The Clovers' song. It is a solid compilation of X-rated 50's R&B, Blues, some '60s, early '70s blues—17 cuts, ALL ABOUT FUCKING!—it contains some of the most nasty, graphic material you're ever likely to find on disc, including a few songs from surprising sources. The fairly clean-cut Clovers veer from their smoothly orchestrated rock/doo-wop formulae to deliver a raw, super-raunchy parody of "Darktown Strutter's Ball", and other tunes match the calibre of raunch, including some surprisingly raw material from the sleek crooner, Jackie Wilson, with LaVern Baker ("Think Twice"). And what to think of "Somebody Else Was Suckin' My Dick Last Night" by Snatch & the Poontangs (actually this is Johnny Otis!), and "Long John / Short John" (by Dinah Washington!)? Pop stars gotta blow off some steam sometime... The CD also contains a number of tracks that can be found on "Ranchy Rock & Roll" (see above).
"Ranchy Rock & Roll", with a re-shuffled track listing, is also available on Metronome (release date unknown, CD 8006), and on Sugar Tit Records (1999) as "For Adults Only"...
Potential enthusiasts should be aware of the sound quality, which vacillates from track to track. While not unlistenable, there is copious surface noise to deal with on a majority of the recordings.
